Our Story- Patricia And Pat

Our story began one morning outside a Court House in Brooklyn Heights:

In began as an ordinary day in the midst of one more busy work week. Pat, until then concerned only with thoughts regarding that day’s trials, noticed Patricia descending the Court House steps. He was smitten. They passed on the sidewalk. Their eyes met. Then an ordinary day became the day their lives changed.

A week went by. Or maybe two. For Pat it seemed an eternity. Until, at the Court Officer’s annual party, he spotted Patricia (In truth he’d only gone to the party in the hopes of finding her there). But he was too awestruck to approach her- until one of his Court Officer friends arranged a clumsy introduction. They said hello. Then got to talking. Yes, they both liked the song that was playing. Her parents were from Ireland. Really, so were his. Somehow Pat found the courage to ask if he might take her out sometime. She said yes.

To his amazement Patricia said yes!

Their courtship began with a lunch date at Eamon Doran’s Restaurant on Montague Street. Followed by more lunch dates, then dinner dates, Broadway shows, and long walks through the streets of Manhattan. Oh, it was a promising romance! But fate had other plans and it’s heavy hand pulled them apart.

Their story might have ended there. But Pat, he could never forgot the beautiful Irish girl who’d stolen his heart. There was never a day he didn’t think of her, never a day he didn’t miss her. Time, he learned, does not heal all heartaches. One year at Christmas, out of the blue, he mailed her a card depicting a snow-covered Brooklyn Bridge. She’d loved that bridge, he remembered, and he’d loved walking across it with her.

A few days later he received a gift that even Santa couldn’t match—a Christmas Card from the girl of his fondest dreams! Then one phone call- that was all it took. They’d found their way back to each other. This time they weren’t letting go.

On an August evening, holding hands as the sun set over a beach at Sag Harbor, they fell in love!

Through the years that followed they shared the joy of holidays and special occasions, traveled the seven seas, and made a lifetime’s worth of memories. When life brought challenges they faced them together and supported each other while their love grew stronger and deeper.

June 22, 2025. It began as an ordinary day in the midst of a busy weekend. At an outdoor table under the awning of a restaurant on Montague Street they watched the rain falling. The maître d brought two glasses of champagne then, trying to conceal a smile, hurried away. Pat lifted his glass. “Patricia, it was here, in Brooklyn Heights, where I first saw the most beautiful woman in the world. More importantly, over the years, I came to know that you are a truly beautiful human being. You’re my friend, my partner, and the great love of my life.” He went to one knee and held out the ring. “Patricia, I love you, and I want to marry you. Will you marry me?”

She said yes!

To his amazement Patricia said yes!

Now, as we embark on the next chapter of our love story, we are grateful to you, our beloved family and friends, for sharing the most special day of our lives.
